Protected by the Kittery Land Trust in 2024, the 7.7-acre Major Property safeguards a beautiful stretch of Spruce Creek’s tidal shoreline. The land includes salt marsh, wetlands, and a small upland forest that provide important habitat for wildlife including hawks, wading birds, and waterfowl. Protecting salt marsh ecosystems like this one is vital in addressing climate change and supporting coastal resilience.

This conservation success was made possible with generous support from the Maine Natural Resources Conservation Program and the Town of Kittery, whose partnership helped secure this special place for the benefit of wildlife and the community.
