KITTERY LAND TRUST PROPERTIES

Remick property

Ralph Remick donated more than 84 acres of property off Fernald Road to the Kittery Land Trust in March of 1999. The property is mainly upland forest near Dennett Road. The conserved land was increased in June 2004 with the addition of two four-acre parcels donated by Central Maine Power in mitigation for work in Kittery. In addition, CMP also gave KLT a right- of-way from Fernald Drive to the Remick property.

A rough map outlining the approximate location of the Remick property is shown below. Click on the map for a larger image.

The 88-acre property is bisected by a CMP easement with power lines, and consists primarily of upland forest, with scattered pools, streams and several very wet areas. During 2004-2005, a lean-to log shelter was discovered on the property, in violation of the deed's restrictions. The lean-to was removed by neighbors at the request of KLT in 2005 during 2004-2005. A sketch of the lean-to was made by Bill Paarlberg, chair of KLT's stewardship committee.

There are a number of restrictions on the use of the southern end of the property, including:

  • No hunting or trapping

  • No snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, or other off-road motorized vehicles

  • No camping or fires

  • No structures of any kind

The Stewardship Committee is working on a management plan for the property. When complete, the plan will be included on this page.
